Journey Through Life
by Perry McDonald
Thirty years the seasons have gone round
And as usual it has been found
That you and me continue to be
Though at times the path is hard to see
On this journey through life
If we had our doubts when we were young
We had the sense enough to hold our tongues
And listen in turn, so we could learn
The secrets to loving all of our lives
Out on the breakwater in Little Traverse Bay
We made the commitment we hold to this day
In light and through darkness we've always found our way
It's not always easy, That's easy to say
We found something worth it and we won't let it slip away
The years slip by like leaves fall from the trees
Our roots grow deeper with shared history
In our hearts and in our minds
What ever we find, through space and through time
All of our lives
Our time grows shorter as our love matures
The paradox is something we endure
Though the future is unknown, Now that our children have grown
They've begun a journey all their own
For the rest of their lives

... someone who saw the magic in a rainbow

^Back in the day...

^ 1971 or 2. This was from about the time I was in "Third Day" with Lynn Dobbins and Frank Thomas. There aren't any pictures of that group as far as I know. We used to practice in an old victorian mansion, converted into a commune down by where the LCC parking garage is now. If you've ever seen the pictures of the Grateful Dead in their old house down Haight Ashbury way... it was quite similar.

 Jubile 1973

Jubile (Long E sound) was the group I was in during my Jr. and Senior years in High School. This was a true garage band in every sense of the word.
That is about the only place we ever played... our practice studio garage, set up at a rental house that guitarist Greg Miller lived in. We got a few nice pictures, some decent recordings, and a whole lotta practice in that old place...
... uh, it's since been torn down.

Sarah and Jessica
words & music by PMcD
You're on a long, long journey
through love and space and time
and if you should ever stumble
you can put your hand in mine
Sarah and Jessica, your Momma loves you
Sarah and Jessica, your Daddy loves you
Sarah and Jessica, we're counting on you
to always do your best
don't just follow all the rest
and love will stand the test of time
Life is just a story
or castles in the sand
It's just what happens to you
when you're making other plans
And when you've both grown up and gone
and our roles begin to change
We'll just have to let you go
and our lives will re-arrange
And if you should travel far and sweet memories linger near
Don't let them go...
Let them stay...
Because you know it all fades away...
